Today we get our permits for Ngorongoro Conservancy and the
Crater, which costs us $390 plus another $190 to go through the Conservancy
again on the way to the Serengeti very expensive for two days and we still have
to pay for entrance to the Serengeti, but we have to tell ourselves it is a
once in a lifetime opportunity and I wished I had done it when I lived here,
but then the girls would have missed out. First bank is full of people and I
realise it is the 1st of August and it must have been pay day
yesterday. I try another bank and it is empty and we are organised very quickly.
Heavens help anyone who turns up at the gate on a Sunday as
all payments have to be made at the Bank as they take no cash or cards at the
Ngorongoro gate
We decide to have a look at the arts and craft shops that
line the road, but their prices are ridiculous and you could get the same thing
at a tenth of the price at the Rosebank rooftop market in Joburg. This is the
peak season and there are a lot more suckers from all over the world for them
to catch so they do not care if we buy or not.
As I said we are having a break today and it also gives me
time to update you on our blog, which we hope you are enjoying as much as we
enjoy sharing, but a little of our adventure with you all.
We are really very excited about tomorrow, which we hope to
start early (05h00) as there are lots of people going into the crater at the
moment and we want to be one of the first cars through.
We had problems with updating the blog and I do not know
when you will hear from us again as I do not think there will be an opportunity
for quite a number of days.
We have to reduce the numbers of photos we load as it is
taking forever, apologies, we will share in some way when we get back.
